The 2011 It’s All About Women Conference and Exhibition takes place Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort. Tickets for daytime workshops, continental breakfast and lunch are $50, as is the evening gala which includes dinner. Family Literacy

A free family friendly Early Years Fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 29 at the SASCU Downtown Activity Centre. Dress as your favourite book character and enjoy a free breakfast.  Activities include crafts, face-painting, family games, storytelling, author readings, music, and buddy reading with the SilverBacks. Northern Lights

Northern Lights Chamber Choir presents Earth Song, a celebration of the Earth and all its creatures, Saturday, Jan 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 30 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Church. Tickets are $15 and are available weekday mornings at the church.

Reel deal

Shuswap Film Society presents Barney’s Version, film adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s best-selling novel of the same name, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29 and 30 at the Salmar Classic.

Trail tales

The Shuswap Trail Alliance puts the fun into fundraising with a gala to launch the Year of the Trail Steward Feb. 4 at SASCU Rec Centre, featuring fine food, music, dancing and a silent auction. Tickets at $20 are available at Lakeside Insurance and Skookum Cycle and Ski.

Delta views

SAGA Public Art Gallery presents Paint Paradise: Views of the Salmon River Delta that features multi-media works by SAGA members, who were challenged to explore the part of the Salmon Arm Bay where the river meets the lake.

Watoto

Children from Africa bring a Message of Hope with the Watoto Choir concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Five Corners Pentecostal Church. The concert is free and open to the public, but a “love offering” will be taken. There will also be an opportunity to buy African items and sponsor a child.
