Under the direction of Mary Landers, the Shuswap Men’s Chorus and a guest lady soloist perform in a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at First United Church. Tickets at $10 are available at Pink Cherry, Shuswap Men’s Clothing and from chorus members.

 

 

Gallery jazz

Internationally acclaimed jazz chanteuse Anna Jacyszyn and the Jazz Café Trio perform cool, contemporary takes on classic tunes from 7 to 9 p.m.  Thursday, April 21 at the SAGA Public Art Gallery. Admission by donation.

 

 

Fresh dirt

Celebrate Earth Day by viewing two films sponsored by Shuswap Seed Savers and Shuswap in Transition (CASSSA) followed by discussion at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Showing April 22 at 7 p.m.  Fresh looks at efforts to renovate the way we grow food. At 8:30, it’s Dirt, an inside look at the marvels of the soil beneath our feet and the need to reconnect.  Admission is by donation.

 

 

Write stuff

Music festival

The 11th annual Shuswap Music Festival runs April 26 to May 6 with 700 performances at five venues. Tickets at $3 are on sale at Lakeside Insurance, Marlin Travel and Acorn Music. The popular Night of Stars gala takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 6 at First United Church. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.

 

 

Rock the dress

 

Several area photographers will participate in Rock the Dress for Breast Cancer 2011, Saturday, May 7. Put on your favourite dress and for a $100 fee, get a disc of 20 high-resolution photos of your shoot, as well as web-ready images to share with family and friends.
