SAS Theatre
Cathy Hay’s Salmon Arm Secondary Acting 11-12 class presents Life on the Bowery at 7:30 nightly to Friday, April 29 in the Sullivan Campus Theatre. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the door.
Music festival
The 11th annual Shuswap Music Festival runs April 26 to May 6 with 700 performances at five venues. Tickets at $3 are on sale at Lakeside Insurance, Marlin Travel and Acorn Music. The popular Night of Stars gala takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 6 at First United Church. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.
Reel deal
Shuswap Film Society presents Jane Eyre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Salmar Classic Theatre.
Hole in one
Club Shuswap in Canoe hosts the EZ Rock / SASCU Million Dollar Hole In One Competition through to April 30 to raise funds for the Shuswap Hospital Foundation. A chance to win all kinds of prizes including cash, cars and $1 million. Qualify from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through to Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Stop by the event – pay 10.00 for a dozen balls or 1.00 per ball and try your best shot. The 50 finalists then battle it out down to the top five that play for $1 million if they hit a hole in one.
Making music
The Fountainview Academy Orchestra and Choir appears at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29 at Broadview Evangelical Free Church. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted.
Opera
Live in HD presents Verdi’s Il Trovatore, at 10 a.m. at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Running time 3 hours, 30 minutes. Tickets $24 at the door or online at salmartheatre.com.
Gospel music
Crystal Taylor, a national recording artist of country and southern gospel music with a message, and her husband Herb Taylor, cowboy preacher and evangelist, will appear at Five Corners Church, Sunday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Free admission.
Fundraiser
There will be a showing of the documentary What are we doing here, Has foreign aid hurt Africa? at 3 p.m. Sunday May 1 at the Salmar Classic Theatre.
Donations raised will go towards the humanitarian work to be done by 5 UBCO students in May and June 2011.
