Shuswap Film Society presents Surviving Progress, a Canadian documentary by Mathieu Roy, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Salmar Classic. On Saturday, Feb. 4, catch The Artist, a French drama about the demise of silent films, with two showings at the Salmar Classic – 4 and 7:30 p.m.

First United Church hosts their annual Fun Variety Concert Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and admission is by donation.
Trail party
The Shuswap Trail Alliance’s annual Auction and Dance takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the SASCU Rec Centre featuring – live music with Scarecrow, dance with DJ Patrick Ryley, trail awards, silent auction, buffet appies, cash bar and The Best of the Shuswap trail film. Tickets for the much-anticipated event are on sale at Skookum Cycle and Ski, Lakeside Insurance, Ridetech, Trailheads and Salmon Arm Financial.
Hitch fest
The Classics at the Classic film series continues with Alfred Hitchcock’s 1951 film Strangers on a Train, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at the Salmar.
Trio returns
The Griffith Hiltz Trio returns to the SAGA Public Art Gallery, with new material from their sophomore album, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.
SAGA
SAGA Public Art Gallery’s annual Members’ Juried Exhibition celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Arts Centre building, with more than 50 artists participating in this multi-media exhibition. The exhibition runs to Feb. 25, with Coffee Break Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
Akonjo
SAGA Public Art Gallery will be home to an evening of music and dance, silent auction and delicious dessert to support Kenya’s Akonjo Village at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the SAGA Public Art Gallery. Tickets are $12 for adults, Adults $12, $7 for students and $30 for families. All funds raised will go to the projects of the Akonjo Youth Empowerment and Health Education Program.
SEAS show
The Shuswap Environmental Action Society (SEAS) will host a fund-raising concert to promote the acquisition of the former Cottonwoods Campground near the Adams River, featuring indie-folk-rock star Joel Plaskett, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15. Advance tickets are $25 and are available at Acorn Music. Cost at the door will be $30.
