Spring has sprung in the North Okanagan and the Bean to Cup Downstairs Gallery’s newest art show is said to be full of colour.

Art Passion features the watercolours of local artist Renah Woods.

Woods has been immersed in the art world since the age of six when she declared to her father: “I am going to be an artist.” Her father took her seriously, and when Woods grew older, she spent six years developing her technique and talent at the Alberta Art College.

Working at jobs and raising children kept Woods busy with life’s responsibilities, but for the last 20 years she has been painting full time, both with water-colours and acrylics.

“Art for me is survival and an obsession that I am driven to do,” said Woods, who has been a volunteer art instructor at the Canadian Mental Health Association for the past 14 years.

An opening night reception for Art Passion takes place at the Downstairs Gallery at the Bean to Cup April 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.  The coffee house will donate a portion from each drink sold on opening night to the Kindale Developmental Association. The art will be available for viewing until the end of May.
