An intriguing collaboration of sound and motion will take place at the Whalebone Theatre in Parksville on May 17.

Movement & Muse mixes dance by Helix Dance Theatre with music by Ryan McMahon. The show debuted at the Malaspina Theatre April 13 and was so well received organizers are putting on another show in Parksville.

Helix Dance Company is a non-profit pre-professional youth dance company based in Parksville. The company’s goal is to create work that demonstrates an elevated technical and artistic calibre, taking dance to a level above competitive-based performances. Members travel from the Comox Valley, Salt Spring Island, Nanaimo and the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.

Movement & Muse is a platform for experience, exposure, and training for these young, aspiring dancers.

Ryan McMahon is an  award-winning Canadian musician who resides in Ladysmith. He has toured the country 15 times and shared stages with artists including Lisa Loeb and the group Nickelback. Most of his live performances are solo acoustic shows.

The performance at Ballenas Secondary School’s Whalebone Theatre takes place at 7:30 p.m. on May 17. Tickets are $15 or $12 for students and can be purchased at Shades of Green in Parksville or at the door.
