The cast of Suds: the Rocking ’60s Musical Soap Opera took to the ice last Saturday at the AV Multiplex to sing the national anthem prior to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs’ game.

Brent Ronning, Lisa Fryer, Janet Deakin and Yvette Deveau, dressed in costume,  took time out of their busy rehearsing schedule to create a “heavenly” rendition of O Canada sung in four-part harmony.

Director Blaine Ronning and musical director Sandy Bouleau are busy working with the cast, crew and band to create what Portal Players Dramatic Society is billing as “a show Alberni Valley audiences will truly enjoy.”

The set, costumes, characters and classic songs like Please Mr. Postman, You Can’t Hurry Love and a medley of Burt Bacharach tunes will bring audiences singing back in time to the 1960s.

The show runs over four weekends on Friday and Saturday nights from Feb. 24 to March 17. Tickets are $20 at the Rollin Art Centre and at www.atthecapitol.org.
