Summer school for string players

‘Strings the Thing’ Summer Camp in Penticton for 7-11 and 12 to adults.

Strings the Thing Summer Camp at the Shatford Centre in Penticton, July 7-11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Junior program for ages 7 through 11.

Senior program for ages 12 through adult.

Violin, viola, cello, and double bass students welcome.

Program includes chamber music ensembles, master classes, orchestral sessions, fiddle sessions, faculty recital, barbecue and Fiddling Jamboree, and an end of week concert.

Faculty includes professional instructors Elizabeth Lupton (violin, viola), John Suderman (violin), Joel Stobbe (cello), Olivia Walsh (cello), and Martine denBok (violin, viola), with the support of student assistant Julian Haynes (violin).

Guest artists Rosemary Thomson (conductor, piano, cello, voice) and Imant Raminsh, composer-in-residence. Thomson has just completed her seventh season as music director of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and Raminsh is an internationally renowned composer.

The Strings the Thing program is presented by The Okanagan School of the Arts.
