Sunday’s Photoshoot Fundraiser keeps Langley kids acting

A fundraising event at Fort Langley's Chief Sepass Theatre will help offset costs for PLAY Society.

Everyone has the right to play and to have access to the arts – regardless of their financial situation.

That’s the motivation behind a Langley-based arts society called PLAY, and the driving force behind a fundraiser happening at the Chief Sepass Theatre this weekend.

Professional Live Arts For Youth (PLAY) Society is hosting a Photoshoot Fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 3 to 6 p.m., that will help the organization provide “affordable” drama and musical theatre classes in Langley, said executive director Brad Tones.

“This fundraiser is for the whole family, whether you want to come out and get some nice family pictures done or put your silly face on and have some fun for the camera,” he added.

“We’ll bring the costumes, you bring the smiles,” Tones said. “PLAY Society will be bringing their tickle trunk of props and costumes as well if anyone wants to use them. There will also be light refreshments served, lots of prizes including Canucks tickets and a helicopter tour and games for the kids.

Tickets are $15 for adults and free for kids. Plus, there’s a separate charge for the photos – five poses for $25.

Tickets are available at 604-612-2071, at playsociety.ca, or in person at the door.

PLAY is a non-profit created by the Barbara Howard Student Arts Program, which is aimed to provide children and families with professional and affordable arts programs. These programs will allow children to learn from professionals in an environment that will allow them to grow and succeed, said Tones.
