A tremendous variety of creative output was displayed and enjoyed across the region with this past weekend’s culture tour.
There was even something extra at Sandra Donahue’s Robson home and studio.
Along with this talented artist’s handwovens and paintings was a stack of beautifully painted illustrations which Sandra had recently finished.
A new children’s book is on the horizon, “The Hundred Dollar Special – The Antics Of A Rescue Cat”
A new acquaintance to Sandra, M. Katherine Bourdon, is a retired school teacher from Rossland who now resides near Salmo. She has written a children’s book and needed an artist’s accompanying illustrations to complement her story. She searched around the area for artists who were willing to try their hand at interpreting the story in colourful pictures. Sandra’s were a perfect fit, and the partnership was on its way. When asked what ages it was intended for, Sandra answered “For three (years) to eight (years), and then maybe up to 80!”
The story has gone to print and the hardcover book should be available later in September. Says Sandra, “Katherine has been wonderful to work with and we’ve really enjoyed working together – we are going to continue the friendship for sure.”
Book signings will be arranged in Salmo and Castlegar.
