SURREY — Bollywood actor and comedian Vir Das will hit the stage at Bell Performing Arts Centre in February.
The show date, announced Tuesday (Dec. 15), is part of the inaugural JFL NorthWest comedy festival.
Billed as “India’s biggest name in comedy,” Das is known for creating Weirdass Comedy, a “comedy consultancy” business that works in film, TV, live shows and other mediums.
Das will perform at the Bell on Friday, Feb. 26. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday (Dec. 18) via the website JFLNorthWest.com.
NorthWest Comedy Fest and Just For Laughs joined forces to present JFL NorthWest, which will stage stand-up, sketch and improv comedy at multiple venues across Vancouver from Feb. 18 to 27, 2016. The 10-day festival lineup features Wanda Sykes, Lewis Black, Jeremy Hotz, Janeane Garafalo, Surrey-based “stunt magician” Wes Barker, The Nasty Show and many other performers.
Das started his film career with “Badmash Company” (2010) and followed it up with “Delhi Belly” (2011). In 2013, he appeared in “Go Goa Gone,” billed as India’s first zombie film. He was last seen in “Revolver Rani” (2014).
Last April, Das toured India with a show called “Unbelievablish,” which covered 17 cities and sold approximately 35,000 tickets during the run.
