Santa’s elves aren’t the only ones who have been busy making presents all year.
Artists from around the Lower Mainland and Gulf Islands have also been hard at work, creating new and original items for the Surrey Art Gallery Association’s (SAGA) annual Show & Sale.
There’s pottery, jewelry and greeting cards, photography, paintings and colourful glasswork. And it’ll all be up for grabs this weekend – Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 – at the Surrey Arts Centre.
This year’s selection also features turned wood, soaps, fabric art and prints. The Studio Theatre beside the gift shop will host more than 20 artists and artisans, who will be on site to showcase their work.
During the weekend sale, all items are reduced by 10 per cent and no GST is charged. SAGA members receive a 15 per cent discount, and memberships can be taken out on the days of the sale.
Complementing the fine art will be performances by Bubbles the Clown, who will create balloon figures for visitors on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, Mandrake the Magician will also display his trickery from noon to 2 p.m.
SAGA is a non-profit society that offers members the opportunity to participate in and respond to contemporary art, and be part of a community that actively supports the Surrey Art Gallery.
