SURREY — The Naked Stage theatre group is looking for a few good people, including actors for its next production.

The fledgling company will hold auditions for “Noel Coward in Two Keys” on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Newton Cultural Centre, 13530 72nd Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No appointment is required.

“The audition process is quite simple,” explained Jim Trimble, president of Naked Stage Productions Society. “You should bring a short script (3 or 4 minutes) of your choosing preferably one not memorized but rather a cold reading. We are a reader theatre, no costumes, props or memorizing. We are developing a good following in this format.

“The Coward play is written by Coward and is comprised of two separate plays, both utilizing the same cast of four. It will play three days in February – 24, 25, 26 – at Newton Cultural Centre.”

The company’s first two productions at the “black box” theatre on 72nd Avenue were “critically-acclaimed successes and we broke even financially,” Trimble noted.

“The fledgling society is on solid ground.”

However, some help is needed.

“We urgently need to get more people involved in the society’s operations,” Trimble said. “Our entire membership is presently made up of only four people, and we four cannot continue to do everything all by ourselves.”

Help with social media, fundraising, advertising, promotion, ticket sales, accounting and in-theatre tasks (tickets, programs, ushers) is desired, Trimble explained.

“If you believe and know that you can contribute to our operations and ongoing success in any of the above ways, or even in a way we haven’t thought of, please contact us at entertainment@nakedstage.net.

The group’s inaugural AGM will be held at Newton Culture Centre on Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
