The Sweeney Singers host a 25th anniversary concert on Saturday, June 21 at Bakerview Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to Menno Hospital.
In celebration of their 25 years together, the group will perform a variety of old favourites and new pieces.
As a special feature, all founding members but one will reunite to sing a selection from the Sound of Music, joined by three Sweeneys from the fourth generation.
Of the original group, half are now married (eight grandchildren), eight have established successful careers, two have just graduated from university and two are post-secondary students.
The Sweeney Singers have been performing in Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley over the years, presenting a wide variety of styles, including folk, jazz and classical.
Featuring two concerts a year in Abbotsford, they also perform at numerous other community events.
Proceeds of all regular concerts go to a chosen charity. In its 25 years, the group has raised thousands of dollars for more than 50 charities.
