Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to check out the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival Best of the Fest Tour hosted by Strathcona Wilderness Institute (SWI) on April 28.
This fundraiser event will feature a selection of top picks from this year’s critically acclaimed mountain film series from around the world. Films to be screened include:
• The Accord – a journey through Iceland searching for that rare, yet significant, compromise between Icelandic surfers and the North Atlantic wind;
• Flashes of the Altai – where three childhood friends set out for the far western corner of Mongolia to combine mountain biking and packrafting in a self-supported adventure into the unknown;
• Doing It Scared – following a British climber who suffered a severe head injury at the Totem Pole in Tasmania, only to return 18 years later to attempt the climb again.
This event will include a variety of excellent films celebrating mountain culture and also offer participants a chance to win great door prizes.
The event is happening at the Stan Hagen Theatre (at North Island College), 2300 Ryan Road in Courtenay.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the films will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under – they can be bought at the door or online.
