Maple Ridge artist Victor Gligor returns to the New Creations Art Gallery with a new show titled Symphony of Colours, featuring a selection of his landscape paintings.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Gligor moved to Sibiu, one of the most beautiful cities in Transylvania, at the age of five.
He discovered he had a talent for painting early on and enrolled himself in the School of Art, hoping to pursue a future as an artist.
Although he dreamed of being an artist, Gligor was steered towards a career in engineering.
He never lost his passion for painting and the nature of the landscapes sealed in his soul the spiritual values that emerge into his artwork.
Most of Gligor’s paintings are created in one sitting because of “an impatience to transfer his charge on the canvas without stepping out of the experience or the emotion.”
“The main objective of my paintings is to capture colours, forms, mood and atmosphere. I invite viewers to participate emotionally in discovering the beauty, majesty and uniqueness of nature using their own imagination,” he says.
“Nature has always energized me: the movement of a lake, the imposing presence of trees or mountains, it feeds my entire spirit and inspires me to channel my perceptions onto my work. In nature, I can retrace personal memories, I find the most amazing colours and perfect imperfections and I feel compelled to share my experience with everyone through my paintings.”
Gligor is represented by Birthplace of B.C. Gallery and is a member of Garibaldi Art Club in Maple Ridge, as well as a member of Federation of Canadian Artists
• The show is at the gallery until March 31. New Creations is located at 22409 McIntosh Avenue in Maple Ridge (off 224th Street, behind Jim’s Pizza).
