The McMillan Arts Centre presents Tales for the Telling on Feb. 17.
Friday, Feb. 17 will feature The Wideness and Wonder of Georgia O’Keeffe, featuring Margaret Murphy of Nanaimo.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the performance is at 7:30 p.m. at the MAC (133 McMillan St., Parksville).
Tickets are available online (www.mcmillanartscentre.com) or at the MAC during open hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
Georgia Totto O’Keeffe (Nov. 15, 1887 to Mar. 6, 1986) was an American artists. She was best known for her paintings of large flowers, New York skyscrapers and New Mexico landscapes. O’Keeffe has been recognized as the “Mother of American Modernism.”
Join Margaret Murphy in a celebration of the magic and wonder of the timeless and remarkable woman. Follow along as Murphy tells of O’Keeffe’s early years in New York to her years in New Mexico.
Murphy started sharing stories as a child with puppet shows in her backyard in Ottawa.
Telling stories lead to writing and a great circle of creating, listening and sharing. Murphy especially loves coaching and teaching storytelling workshops; celebrating stories of Canadian women who paved the way is one of her greatest joys.
Murphy trained at the Toronto School of Storytelling and has more than 20 years experience as a professional storyteller.
