Taste of Revelstoke to flavour Haney Heritage meeting

The Salmon Arm Museum and Heritage Association’s AGM takes place at Marjorie’s Tearoom at R.J. Haney Heritage Village at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17.

A short meeting will precede special guest speaker, Revelstoke Museum and Archives curator Cathy English.

Museum curator for more than 25 years, English is host of the most popular show on Revelstoke community television. She will talk about Reflections, her society’s recently published book featuring the work of Earle and Estelle Dickey.

The Dickeys were well known Revelstoke photographers. Prior to Earle’s death in 1954, the couple documented the area, with Earle taking photos and Estelle developing the images in the couple’s home darkroom. After Earle’s death, Estelle took over as a photographer. She captured the people, places and events of Revelstoke and District until her death in1980.

The evening will conclude with the unveiling of the recently completed Village Development Plan for R.J. Haney Heritage Village and an exhibit plan for the Lester and Thomson Garage at the village, both created by Cuyler Page, curator at the Maritime Museum in Victoria.
