They’re ready to head to Europe to compete in the worlds.

But first, one last dance performance showcase.

The Canadian National Hip Hop Team is heading to to Bochum, Germany on Sept. 22 to represent Canada at the World Hip Hop Championships — with at least six Chilliwack dancers qualified to compete.

“Due to the teachers strike, these young people have had extra time available to them,” said Team Dance Canada national director Bonnie Dyer.

Many spent the hours rehearsing hard to represent Canada to the best of their ability.

Team Canada Hip Hop features a corps of elite dancers set to make their mark on the world stage in the Junior Hip Hop Division (12-15) and the Adult Hip Hop Division (16+). Team Canada includes these local dancers: Alana Cross, Senior Team; Delaney Hawkes, (Senior Team) Lory Nixon, Senior Team; Camryn Jackson-Gola, Junior Team; Elana D’archangelo, Junior Team; Emma Donnelly, Junior Team.

Choreographer Paul Otterbein has worked extremely hard with these young people to instill a sense of pride while representing Canada.

“This is one of the strongest teams ever to represent Canada at the World Hip Hop Championships,” said Dyer.

She credits Otterbein for his “amazing choreography and his ability to get the young people to work hard towards a unified goal. He’s very strict, fair and meticulous is everything he does and the young people love him.”

The Team will be showcasing their outstanding dance routines on Sunday, September 21, 4 p.m. at the Langley Fine Arts School, 9096 Trattle St.
