May 29, 30 — The Dream Café presents Katmandu, playing a lively blend of Indian raga/rock, Latin jazz and blues featuring Rhonda Padmos on piano and vocals with Don Pope on guitar, sitar and vocals.

May 31 — Open mic night at the Sweet Tooth Cafe in Summerland, hosted by Mat Duffus from 6 to 9 p.m. Everyone welcome.

May 31 — The Angelus Handbell Ringers will perform at 2 p.m. in the Penticton United Church along with vocalist Gordon Ganderton, cellist Julia Lipov, flutist Sharon Morrow, violinist Olivia Antuna and drummer Nicole Jonsson Good.

June 1 — Karaoke Dance Party every Monday and Friday night at 7 p.m. at Fibonacci’s.

June 1 — Canadian fiddler Scott Woods brings his Fiddling in the key of…eh? show to the Shatford Centre from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children six to12, free for children under five.

June 3 — Jazz guitarist Jesse Wood performing at 7:30 p.m. in the Cleland Theatre, on tour for his new album, One World.

June 4 — Classic Vancouver punk band DOA is coming to The Elite with Special guests the Hippiecritz.

June 4 — South Okanagan Concert Society has flex-tickets for the upcoming season now on sale, including Locarno on Oct. 23, the Daniel Gervais Trio on Dec. 4, Capilano University Singers on Feb. 5, Wolak and Donnelly Duo on March 18. All concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Beyond Bliss in Oliver and Imperial Office in Osoyoos.

June 4 — Live music jam with Boom Chicken every Thursday night at Fibonacci’s starting at 8 p.m.

June 4 — The Thursday Night Jazz Band are holding a special concert in support of the summer art program at the Summerland Seniors’ Drop-in Centre, 9710 Brown Rd. Tickets are $10 and are available from band members and the Summerland Community Arts Council, 9908 Main St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dancing begins at 7 p.m. Okanagan Crush Pad wines will be available.

June 6 — The Lion the Bear and the Fox at the Dream Café with a live show best described as a harmony-filled evening from a trio with over three decades combined experience.

June 6 — The Celebration Singers present Babes Hit Hollywood! from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shatford Centre. Featuring music from movies such as Pitch Perfect, Saturday Night Fever, Dreamgirls, Dirty Dancing and Slumdog Millionaire. Tickets are available at the Shatford Centre or eventbrite.ca. Adults $20, seniors and students $15, kids 12 and under $10.

June 11 — Indie rock band Aztec is coming to Penticton to play the Elite Restaurant.

May 29 — The Front Street gallery presents an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. for Carolyn Jager’s new show, Landscapes and Grapes. Show runs through June 11, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 60 Front St.

May 30 — A Celebration of Life for former South Okanagan artist and muralist, Frances Hatfield, who passed away Dec. 28, 2014, will be held 1 p.m. at the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Art Gallery. A collection of her paintings will be displayed for the celebration. For more information, call 250-546-8318.

May 28, 29, 30 — The Shatford Players present their first production, Cake-Walk, from Canadian playwright Colleen Curran. Performances each night in the Shatford Centre Auditorium at 7 p.m. along with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Shatford Centre and The Dragon’s Den in Penticton as well as SASS on Main Street in Summerland.

May 30, 31 — Summerland Pleasure Painters will have an art show and sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Stevens Anglican Church Hall, 9311 Prairie Valley Rd., Summerland, including fundraiser table to support the Penticton Regional Hospital expansion project.

June 2, 3, 4 — The Cawston Players present God of Carnage, a black comedy by Yasmine Reza translated by Christopher Hampton at 7 p.m. in the Shatford Centre. Advance tickets are available: $15 at Dragon’s Den on Front Street, the Shatford Centre, and some at the door.

June 5 — First Fridays open microphone night at 7:30 p.m. in the Penticton Art Gallery. The theme for June is World Environment Day: Celebrating the Beauty of Our World and the Gifts of Summer. All ages welcome and free admission. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available by donation.[0605p]

June 6 — Artist’s talk and tour at 1 p.m. in the Penticton Art Gallery with Bethany Handfield discussing her current exhibition, Bee Alchemy and the Resurrection of Dreaming. Free admission, donations welcome.

June 6 — Gotta Dance from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver is a special dance fundraiser for the Okanagan Dance Studio’s Show Group, providing young dancers with training, cultural and educational experiences at home and abroad. The evening will feature solo and duo performances by talented young dancers along with selections from musical theatre. A silent auction, wine tasting and refreshments will also be available. Tickets can be purchased in Oliver at Beyond Bliss, Burrowing Owl Winery and SOSS and in Penticton at the Okanagan Dance Studio.

June 13, 14 — Stan Thompson Memorial Rodeo at the Princeton Exhibition Grounds, 315 Laurie Currie Way. Rodeo begins at 1:30 p.m., daily featuring the Cariboo Cowgirls special events drill team, clown Jayson Charters, half-time kids games and more. On Saturday night join us for the rodeo dance and the second annual Best Butt in Blue Jeans Contest. June 20, 21 — Oliver’s Dance Studio presents A Night at the Movies in Frank Venables Theatre at 6 p.m. on June 20, with a 2 p.m. matinee on June 21. An end-of-year show filled with all types of dance and music. Great for the whole family. Come and enjoy a weekend of performances with Oliver’s young dancers. Tickets $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under, on sale June 1 at the Dance Studio.

June 27 — Come out to celebrate the food, music, and culture of Mexico at Flamenco Fusion Mexican Flair. There will be dinner, local wines, dancing, and music, starting at 6 p.m. at the Shatford Centre. The evening will feature Mexican flamenco-fusion duo El Javi on their first Canadian tour. Tickets are $40, available at the Shatford Centre, Therapy Vineyards in Naramata and Sonoran Estate Winery in Summerland.
