CONCERTS

May 16 and 17 — Rick Fines classic blues guitar picking with Tim Williams at the Dream Café.

May 17 — Multi-award winning tribute artist Adam Fitzpatrick as Elvis at the St. Andrews Clubhouse in Kaleden. Tickets are $45. Dinner at 6 p.m. and show is at 7:30 p.m.

May 24 — The Timewalkers perform great pop and rock classics from the 60’s and 70’s at the Dream Café.

May 25 — Oliver Handbell Ringers present Spring Ring, 3 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Admission by donation.

May 31 — A night of jazz-infused music from the Jazz Café Quartet of Anna Jacyszyn, Bernie Addington, Neville Bowman and Scott Gamble at the Dream Café.

May 31 — Fighting Orange at the Firehall Brewery Back Alley Concert Series in Oliver. Featuring artist Luba Chpak. Picnic meals encouraged, no minors. Gates at 6:30 p.m., music at 7 p.m. Tickets pre-sold at Firehall Bistro for $12.

June 1 — Kelowna International Choir under the direction of Dennis Colpitts perform Something To Sing About ­— Canadiana at the Penticton United Church. Tickets are $10.

June 5 — The Lion, Bear and Fox at the Dream Café.

June 7 — Toronto-based jazz trumpeter and composer Mike Field at the Dream Café.

June 12 — Kenny Rogers Through the Years tour at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

June 12 — Scott Woods Old Time Jubilee with special guests appearance by Fiddlekidz. New show featuring tunes in the style of Don Messner, step-dancing and family humour at the Shatford Centre. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.

June 14 — A night of romantic love ballads and dance hits with Engelbert Humperdinck at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Special guest comedian Herb Dixon.

June 14 — Lead vocalist and bassist of Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster, Russel DeCarle is at the Dream Café.

June 21 — Doug Towle’s De La Terra taking Spanish guitar to new heights at the Dream Café.

June 27 — Brent Tyler and Joshua Smith at the Dream Café.

June 28 — Canada’s prairie balladeer Scott Cook at the Dream Café.

July 4 — Sabrina Weeks and Swing Cat Bounce boogie blues band at the Dream Café.

July 5 — Wined it Up CD release party at the Firehall Brewery Back Alley Concert Series in Oliver. Featuring Tinhorn Creek Winery and artist Janet West. Picnic meals encouraged, no minors. Gates at 6:30 p.m., music at 7 p.m. Tickets pre-sold at Firehall Bistro for $12.

July 9 — Strings The Thing faculty recital at the Shatford Centre. Concert at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.

July 9 — Front Porch, Up On Cripple Creek at the Dream Café.

July 11 and 12 — Barney Bentall travelling with Eric Reed at the Dream Café.

July 17 — Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar at the Dream Café.

July 24 to 26 — Michael Kaeshammer at the Dream Café.

July 25 — Rock Skool, a program run at the Shatford Centre, hosts a rock show on July 25 to show off the students hard work. Concert is from 1 to 4 p.m.

July 31 — Zakiya Hooker at the Dream Café.

Aug. 1 —Jazzcool! program culminates with a concert at the Shatford Centre. Concert is from 1 to 4 p.m.

Aug. 1 to 3 — Boonstock music and arts festival featuring headliners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, City and Colour, Armin Van Buren, Rise Against, Classified and many more.

Aug. 2 — Johnny’s Hat at Firehall Brewery in Oliver featuring Stoneboat Vineyards and artist Leann Parrent. Picnic meals encouraged, no minors. Gates at 6:30 p.m., music at 7 p.m. Tickets pre-sold at Firehall Bistro for $12.

Aug. 8 — Alice in Chains with opener The Pack A.D. at the SOEC.

Aug 22 to 24 — Ponderosa Arts and Music Festival in Rock Creek. Artists scheduled to perform include Good for Grapes, Pants and Animals, Blouse, The Funk Hunters and more.

Oct. 27 — Classic rock fixture The Doobie Brothers at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

EVENTS

May 15 to 19 — 17th annual Meadowlark Nature Festival with over 80 environment events. For more visit www.meadowlarkfestival.bc.ca.

May 16 to 29 — Front Street Gallery celebrates guest artist Peter Scott with his showing Okanagan Skies. Scott is an Osoyoos-based impressionist landscape artist. Gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Until May 15 — Summerland artist Peg Barcelo is the guest artist from May 2 to May 15 at the Front Street Gallery showing Acrylic on Canvas.

Until May 17 — Quintessential Okanagan art show at the Leir House features artists Sharon Snow and Lynne Marand.

May 17 — All day patio kickoff party at the Penticton Lakeside Resort with Sugga, the truck that turns into a DJ booth on the beach. Runs from noon to 2 a.m.

May 17 — Barefoot Beach Bartender battle is kicking off summer with a beach party like you have never experienced. Beer gardens on the shore of Skaha Lake, music courtesy of DJ Shakes, fire dances and Western Canada’s top flair bartenders. After party at the Barefoot Beach restaurant and Mule Nightclub. Tickets are $10 and event runs from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

May 19 — Celebrate the SS Sicamous’ 100th birthday at Steam Fest. the launch of a commemorative stamp and outdoor Steam Show, where local residents can register their home-made steam-craft and gadgets in hopes of winning prizes in their category. The collector stamp will be available for purchase. The public is welcome to come down to the SS Sicamous from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, May 19 to check out the show and have a free tour.

May 22 to 24 — Okanagan International Children’s Festival at Okanagan Lake Park. Over 30 performances including headliners Fred Penner, circus comedian Kaput and dance and music group Aché Brazil. For more information visit www.okchildrensfest.com.

May 23 — South Okanagan Actors and Players present Lend Me A Tenor, a madcap comedy by Ken Ludwig. A hapless stage manager substitutes for a famous Italian tenor with hilarious results. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors/students. Available at Sundance Video (Oliver), Your Dollar Store (Osoyoos) or at the door. Show is at 8 p.m. at the OSS Theatre in Osoyoos.

May 24 — S.S. Sicamous centennial celebration. Sample fine wines and ales beside Okanagan Lake. Nibble on delicious food and savour the smell of freshly baked bread pulled from the heritage rock oven. Tickets are $25 with all proceeds to the SS Sicamous. They include your first glass of wine, a tasty morsel, entertainment and a tour of the ship.

May 30 to June 13 — Guest artist Sandy Spring at the Front Street Gallery featuring Watercolors from the hand of Sandy Spring. Specializing in animals and people. Gallery open Monday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

May 31 — Train Wreck Comedy at the Copper Mug Pub with Jason Lamb and Sean Proudlove at 8 :30 p.m. Tickets are $10.

May 31 — JCI Penticton’s Murder Mystery fundraiser event, Murder at the Races. Come dressed for the derby for a unique, fun experience. Horse races with prizes, silent auction, prizes for best costume and best hat. Ticket includes Chef Darin Paterson of Bogner’s barbecue dinner and music by DJ Shakes. Tickets are $55.

June 4 to 8 —Exploring Encaustic, series of art classes with Bethany Handfield, at the Okanagan School of the Arts at The Shatford Centre.

June 7 and 8 — Summerland Art Club is hosting an event with over 20 painters presenting new, original works in watercolour, acrylics, oil, pastels and pencil from 10 am. to 4 p.m. on the lower floor of the Summerland Library. Free admission. Meet the artists on Sunday at 3 p.m.

July 5 — The Penticton Scottish Festival and Highland Games. One day family event featuring bagpiping, dancing, heavy events such as the caber toss, sheep dogs and entertainment all day long including the Celtic band Kinship. Play area for children as well.

July 11 — The third annual Party In The Park ant Kenyon Park in Okanagan Falls featuring 12 wineries, a barbecue buffet with Chef Instead and live music from UnCorked. Tickets are $50 (plus tax). Purchase at www.ofwa.ca, at a member winery or at the Penticton & Wine Country Visitor Information Centre.
