CONCERTS

Oct. 3 ­— Van Django, an acoustic string ensemble made up of four Canadian musicians, at the Dream Café. Tickets are $24.

Oct. 4 — Kieran Strange is a dynamic young artist blending pop sensibilities, edgy guitars and synthesized electronic sounds in her personal brand of British pop-rock. She is performing at Voodoos.

Oct. 8 — Del Barber brings his lonesome balladry and timeless stories to the Dream Café. Tickets are $20.

Oct. 10 to 11 — Gary Comeau and John Ellis perform New Orleans-style rocking roots at the Dream Café. Tickets are $20.

Oct. 12 Safe In Sound Festival comes to the South Okanagan Events Centre featuring Caked Up, Destroid, Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, and Terravita.

Oct. 17 Russell Decarle, former lead vocalist and bassist of Prairie Oyster, at the Dream Café. Tickets are $24.

Oct. 18 Okanagan Symphony Orchestra presents Rhapsody (Deloitte masterworks) with special guest Ian Parker on the piano. Concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre.

Oct. 27 Classic rock fixture The Doobie Brothers at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Oct. 29 Locomotive Ghost with Papa Thom at Elite after 6. Show starts at 8 p.m. By donation.

Oct. 31 — Halloween Bash at the Barley Mill Brew Pub with a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas.

Oct. 31 — Singer-songwriter Jeremy Fisher at the Dream Café. Tickets are $20.

Nov. 1 — The Contenders Tour with Valdy and Gary Fjellgaard at the Centre Stage Theatre in Summerland at 7:30 p.m. Ticketsat Martins Flowers, 250-494-5432.

Nov. 1 — Chicago style blues, swing, roots with country and rock thrown in for good measure, Brent Parkin plays at the Dream Café. Tickets are $20.

Nov. 1 — Live music by Brian Highley at the Barley Mill Brew Pub.

Nov. 2 — The Contenders Tour with Valdy and Gary Fjellgaard at Barking Parrot at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at The Dragon’s Den, 250-492-3011.

Nov. 5 — Juno-award winning singer Connie Kaldor at the Dream Café. Tickets are $32.

Nov. 7 — Oh What A Night, a musical tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. 7 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre. Tickets available at the community centre.

Nov. 8 — Live music by Uncorked at the Barley Mill Brew Pub.

Until Oct. 11 — The Okanagan Fall Wine Festival. Signature events include the Valley First Grand Finale Consumer Tastings at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Oct. 10 and 11.

Oct. 3 ­ Eat a Burger: Promote Mental Health Awareness at the Barley Mill at 5:30 p.m. Features a 50/50 draw, silent auction and music by Slapdog. Tickets are $15.

Oct.4 — Meet My June author Danial Neil at Hooked On Books 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oct. 4 Oliver Community Arts Council’s fall show and sale with public voting happening from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Oliver Community Centre. Reception and awards from 7 to 9 p.m.

Oct. 4 to 5 — Artist Shayn Hagel presents his newest work, 16 art panels, along with work by Art House member Jessie Dunlop from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Art House located at 2345 Government St.

Oct. 5 Oliver’s Festival of the Grape runs from noon to 5 p.m. featuring fun for the whole family. Grape stomping competition, live music including Juno-award winning band The Paperboys and more.

Until Oct. 11 — The fall Okanagan Wine Festival with events all over the Okanagan. Signature events include the Valley First Grand Finale Consumer Tastings at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Oct. 10 and 11.

Oct. 13 — The Grist Mill in Keremeos celebrates Apple Day on Oct. 1.

Oct. 16 — Kitchen Stove Film Series presents Calvary. Film screens at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Penticton Landmark 7.

Oct. 17 to 30 — Guest artist Cecelia Louis-Ralston presents Creation, photography of reflected moments at the Front Street Gallery. Opening event Oct. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Oct. 18 — Penticton’s Oktoberfest at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Beer, food and dancing. Tickets are $25 and available at www.valleyfirsttix.com, by phone at 1-877-763-2849 or in person at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC and the Wine Country Visitor Centre. All money raised at the event is donated back into the community.

Oct. 19 and 22 ­­— Auditions for Cake-walk, running at the Shatford Centre in May. Four females (early 20s to 3aely 50s and two males, late 30s and any age for an announcer). Audtions are being held at the Shatford Centre at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. For more, call Judi at 250-770-1867.

Oct. 26 — Children’s Showcase opens their new season with Celso Machado: Sounds of the Rainforest at the Cleland Theatre. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., performance starts at 2 p.m. General admission $30, for complete series or single tickets at the door are $12. Available at Tumbleweed Gallery, Oliver Veterinary and The Beanery.

Until Nov. 3 — Psychiatric Art Show Beyond Words – how does my garden grow? at the Penticton Art Gallery in partnership of the Mental Wellness Centre.
