An out-of-this-world cast of characters lands in Abbotsford Sunday, Jan. 29.

Bringing the popular Canadian children’s television show to the stage, The Backyardigans – Quest for the Extra Ordinary Aliens whisks families on a musical expedition in pursuit of a mysterious spaceship and its missing passengers.

Based on the top-rated preschool television program The Backyardigans, airing on Treehouse TV, the theatrical production is set to 21 songs by the show’s TV composer Evan Lurie and directed by internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Patti Caplette.

Follow Pablo the penguin, Tyrone the moose, Uniqua the purple-spotted creature, Tasha the hippo and Austin the kangaroo as they travel around the world via state-of-the-art 3D video design, singing and dancing the whole way.

The family musical takes place at 1 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way. Tickets are $25.50.
