St. Mary’s Church is hosting the brass quintet of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Naden Band April 23 at 2:30 p.m.

This concert will be the last Sunday Serenade concert in the 11th season, which runs from October to April.

The event caters to residents of Central Saanich and Sidney by providing an afternoon concert right in their backyard.

The Naden Band has a large repertoire and has showcased it through military and public parades, ceremonies, commemorative and social events, dances, school concerts and public concerts. Fairwater Brass also provides ambient music for official functions and receptions.

The role of the Naden Band is to provide support for the Canadian Forces, particularly the Navy. By communicating through music the Band also holds entertainment value and fosters goodwill.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Tanner’s Books in Sidney. Tickets will also be available at the door. Children 12 and under get in free.
