With an average attendance of 93 per cent, the Charlie White Theatre marked a new high in December.
It was a record-breaking month, according to manager Philip Sutton.
“The attendance was approaching 4,400,” Sutton said. “This will be a hard record to break, but it will be fun trying.”
Of 16 shows, 10 were sold out.
He credits the success to “the right shows at the right time, for the right price.”
The ever-popular Peninsula Singers sold out three shows.
“Then we had the City of Gardens Chorus the next week, and they did two shows on one day and one of them sold out, and the second show was within seats of selling out,” Sutton said.
Legends of Rock and Roll and Stelly’s students performing Guys and Dolls, along with the the Peninsula Players presentation of the pantomime Wind in the Willows rounded out the month.
“We ended the year with three sell outs and we started the year with a sell out,” Sutton said, referring to the January Timebenders concert.
“It’s a combination of a whole group of things coming together and it all just worked very well.”
