The little theatre that could keep on ticking with another season of stellar presentations.

Ladysmith Little Theatre, which has been a staple in the community since 2003, is pleased to raise the curtain on Art of Murder, by Joe DiPietro.

The play, produced by Carol Sparham and directed by Mary Lou Reside, revolves around Jack, an eccentric painter, and his plan to seek revenge on his former art dealer, Vincent, who Jack believes wronged him.

The plot is complicated by Jack’s wife, Annie, who is reluctant to go along with her husband’s scheme.

Jack’s role is handled by Gordon Levin, while Carina Charania plays his wife. Bruce Ormond plays the flamboyant Vincent, and Sarah Thomson plays Kate, a character that adds another twist to the mix.

The entire production and everyone involved in Ladysmith Little Theatre, from directors, actors and producers to stagehands, lighting, sound and ushers are volunteers, said volunteer Sharron Onciul.

The theatre group purchased the old schoolhouse at 4985 Christie Rd. in 2102, where they have been based for the past 16 years. Funds from Art of Murder and future productions such as Sylvia Nov. 25 to Dec. 11 and Divorce Sale from Jan. 26 to Feb. 12 will go toward paying off the mortgage and financing repairs, Onciul explained.

Art of Murder runs Oct. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15 at 8 p.m., with matinee performances Sunday Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.

You can make an evening of it and include dinner with the show on Oct. 6, 7 and 14, suggested Onciul. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to accommodate those taking in the show and dinner,  and at 7:30 for the performance

Tickets cost $25 for the performance or $45 for Art of Murder and dinner.
