As Kicking Horse Culture describes, a “rollicking blast” of traditional folk music that infuses classic Celtic music and touches of country, Three Finger Shot are coming to Golden this Wednesday, June 20 for the Summer Kicks music series in Spirit Square.

Tony Ronalds and Trevor Bowering are formerly from the Maritimes, and are currently based out of Calgary. Ronalds hails from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and Bowering from Kilbride, Newfoundland. The artists originally met in Ottawa, Ontario, and have been playing together since.

The duo have been playing in the Canadian music scene for around 17 years. Their new album expands on the stories and characters from the EP, Stories From a Small Town. The band has said they want to give people the opportunity to become familiar with Stories From a Small Town before the full length album. The title track from the EP introduces listeners to three characters that are featured on the album, and will play a major role in their upcoming work. The EP was released in March of last year.

With their backing band, Three Finger Shot offers the intimacy and joys of an old-style kitchen party right out of Cape Breton. The band is said to be comedic as well as musical, which only adds to their entertaining show.

The Usual Suspects will complement the East Coast sounds of Three Finger Shot on June 20 at the Spirit Square, 7 p.m.

The following week, be prepared to catch Son of John, with Smalltown Revival. Son of John is a unique father-son duo whose songs cut to the heart of things and is rootsy Canadiana at its most authentic.
