The movie 'Big Hero 6' will be shown Saturday night (Aug. 20) at Holland Park in Surrey.

1. The futuristic, fictional city of San Fransokyo is the setting for “Big Hero 6,” the four-star superhero-comedy film (about a robotics prodigy) that hits the inflated screen at Holland Park this Saturday night (Aug. 20). Dusk is the start for the latest in the all-animation Movies Under the Stars series hosted by the Downtown Surrey BIA, but arrive as early as 5 p.m. for the food, music and activities. More details can be found at Downtownsurreybia.com.

2. Bring a dish to share and your dancing shoes to Zaklan Heritage Farm for its yearly Harvest Festival, set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Local bands and a pig roast are also on the menu at the farm, in Newton at the corner of 84th Avenue and 132nd Street – you know, where a working farm seems kind of out of place, right? But it’s there, and it’s pretty awesome. Look for more event details and photos at Youngagrarians.org/aug-20-zaklan-farm-festival.

3. “Land Art,” an exhibit inspired by an art form in which designs are created from “found items” in their natural environment, is featured in a one-day showcase Friday (Aug. 19) at Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., it’s a chance to see things created from tree branches, flowers and moss in a wonderful setting near Little Campbell River – at 1284 184th St., South Surrey, to be precise. “Enjoy the nature trail as you move through the displays,” Ann Peters, with BC Floral Art Society, told the Now. “Floral demonstrations and plant sale also.” Details: Bcfloralartsociety.com.
