1. Bust a move over to Surrey City Hall’s Centre Stage for “Play Your Cards Right 2016: YVR,” the final round of a hip-hop dance competition that sees b-boys and b-girls be teammates in one round, but opponents the next. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the event, staged by Vancouver’s Funk ‘N Sole Entertainment, organizer of the West Coast qualifiers for the Canadian Hip-Hop Championships. Virgin Radio’s DJ Flipout will play the music, and tickets are $15 for everyone aged 13 and over. For more info, visit Facebook.com/funknsole or call 778-989-5987.

2. At Newton Cultural Centre, a reception on Saturday (Nov. 12) from 1 to 3 p.m. will mark the official arrival of “The Collage,” an exhibit that focuses on works by members of Surrey Photography Club. Until Nov. 30, a wide range of images will be shown at the facility, located at 13530 72nd Ave., Surrey. For details, visit Surreyphotographyclub.com or call the centre, 604-594-2700.

3. If you appreciate old-time song and dance (or maybe know a parent or grandparent who does), check out “Reflections of Vaudeville,” the latest show staged by Surrey-based The Vaudevillians, at Surrey Arts Centre. Afternoon show times are this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 12 and 13, starting at 2 p.m.), with plenty of comedy routines in the mix, too. Best of all, funds raised will go toward scholarships for local performing-arts students. For advance tickets ($22), call 604-501-5566 or visit Tickets.surrey.ca.
