2. Like basketball? Bounce on down to Kwantlen Park Secondary gym this Saturday (Nov. 28) for the inaugural “Jingle Hoops,” an event organized by Surrey Christmas Bureau as a fun and sporty way to generate donations this holiday season. “It’s a day of just basketball-related activities, some skill demonstrations, some pickup games, very recreational,” explained KC Gilroy, the bureau’s co-ordinator. For three hours this Sunday (Nov. 29), Santa will again be in the house to pose for photos with local pets, as part of a fundraiser staged by Urban Safari Rescue Society at its facility in South Surrey. A pro photographer will be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the owner of each pet will receive a digital copy of the best photo taken and also one 5×7 print. The fee is a minimum $15 donation to the organization, and all cash raised will go toward the care of its 350 rescues and abandoned exotic animals, at 1395 176th St., Surrey.
