Mainland Misfits roller derby action returns to Cloverdale on Saturday afternoon (May 7).

1. Admission is $10 for “May-N-Land Mayhem,” an event Saturday (May 7) at Cloverdale Curling Rink featuring the rock-’em, sock-’em action of the Mainland Misfits flat-track roller derby association. The Candy Crushers, Doomsday Bunnies, Brass Knuckle Derby Dames, Smokin’ Laces and other teams do battle starting at 2:15 p.m., at 6150 176th St. “Once the beatin’ and bruisin’ is done with, feel free to come join us at Rusty’s neighbourhood pub (17770 Hwy. 10) for the after-party,” reads a post at Facebook.com/MMRDA.

2. Join local doctors at Bear Creek Park Pavilion on Tuesday evening for an hour-long Walk With Your Doc event, which gets going at 6 p.m. and celebrates Move For Health Day (a World Health Organization thing). The free, family-friendly stroll is an initiative of Doctors of BC’s Council on Health Promotion, as a way to get people moving. As an incentive, those who register to walk receive a free pedometer (while supplies last) to help track their steps. More details about the Surrey event, and others held in B.C., are posted at Walkwithyourdoc.ca.

3. New at Historic Stewart Farm is “Steeped in History: The Art and Taste of Tea,” an exhibit that takes a closer look at the beverage. Ancient legends, notorious smugglers and even a revolution – it’s all part of tea history, according to curators of the springtime exhibit, which opened Saturday (April 30) and can be viewed on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays only at 13723 Crescent Rd., Surrey. More detatils are posted at Surrey.ca/culture-recreation/19379.aspx.
