1. The classic thriller “Dracula” is brought to the Surrey Arts Centre stage by Royal Canadian Theatre Company starting tonight (Thursday, Oct. 10) and continuing until Saturday. Ellie King directs the action, set in a steampunk universe with the count’s arch-nemesis Van Helsing (Kathryn Stewart) played as a beautiful woman. The cast also features Elyse Maloway (as Lucy Seward), Kurtis Maguire (Count Dracula) and Paul Stewart (Renfield), among others. For show times and tickets – $28 for adults, $18 for seniors, $85 for a family pack of four tickets – call 604-501-5566 or click on Tickets.surrey.ca. The theatre company is online at Rctheatreco.com.

2. The new Kids Gallery at Surrey Museum is grand-opened Saturday (Oct. 10) at the Cloverdale facility, with free events planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The interactive gallery is a place to explore the world of sustainable energy from a kid’s point of view, in the second-floor space previously occupied by touring exhibits. Climb through the tree fort, ride the energy bike, investigate how electricity works – it’s all at the museum’s latest attraction. On Saturday, catch The Re-enactors troupe, the clown Zox of the Forest, a puppet show and more at the museum, 17710 56A Ave., Surrey. Also of note, the museum will be open Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., as of Oct. 11. For details, call 604-592-6956 or visit Surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2372.aspx.

3. Surrey-raised comic Dylan Rhymer is now managing the Lafflines Comedy Club, located in the Columbia Theatre across the water in New Westminster. He’s busy trying to put bums in seats for “A Crazy Night Of Comedy,” a charity event starring Mike MacDonald, guests Melanie Rose, Joe Commisso and host Janice Bannister. Proceeds from the event, on Wednesday, Oct. 14 starting at 8 p.m., will benefit mental health programs in the community. Tickets are $10 each via Lafflines.com, and at the door. The club is located at 530 Columbia St. For details, call 604-525-2262.
