“A genuine star in the making, young violinist Simone Porter is a bold and virtuosic musician, a perfect match for the polished, lyrical Bruch Violin Concerto,” reads a VSO email about the concert.
“Russian conductor Mikhail Agrest has honed his craft for over a decade at the famous Mariinsky Theatre, and Tchaikovsky’s enchanting Orchestral Suite No. 3 will come to dazzling life under his baton.”
The year 2015 was a banner one for Porter, who had won a prestigious grant, has signed with a major talent agency and also garnered raves for her 2014 performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
