Tin Town Night Market & Studio Tour a family-friendly free event

Thursday, Dec. 4 from 4-9 p.m. in Tin Town Courtenay

Tin Town artists, businesses and residents are excited to invite the community to join them for a family-friendly, free event to celebrate the start of the Christmas season today (Thursday, Dec. 4) from 4-9 p.m. in Tin Town Courtenay (Rosewall Crescent).

This always popular artists’ studio tour has been expanded to include the many and diverse businesses and organizations that operate in Tin Town, Courtenay’s funky tinclad, eco-friendly live/work neighbourhood.

Admission to the Tin Town Night Market & Studio Tour is free, but there will be an opportunity for amazing raffle prize draws from over 20 local artists and businesses (bring loonies), Christmas shopping, art installations, photos with Santa, delicious food including Prontissima Pasta, Tin Town Tacos, wine sampling, hot drinks, hot buttered popcorn, kids crafts, fire dancing, face painting and much more.

This is a great opportunity to shop locally or just enjoy wandering the community to take part in the festivities.

Local Tin Town artists and guests have been working hard to prepare a wide variety of art pieces for display and sale. There are outstanding stained glass pieces, beautiful watercolour paintings, sculptures, mixed media art, rustworks, silver jewelry and more.

There will also be buskers throughout Tin Town, including Helen Austin, Joey Clarkson, Alannah Clark, Joanna Finch, Blaine Dunaway and surprise performers as well. You can even join the music making with a participatory choir led by LetzSing director, Tina Fillipino.

Tin Town business and artists are also being joined by local vendors as well as market booths from the Comox Valley Farmer’s Market. There will be a wide variety of food, handmade soaps, jewelry, crafts, teas and so many options to find original, locally made Christmas gifts.

This year there is a common goal in mind for funds raised from this unique event. Proceeds from raffle draws and partial proceeds from many vendors, businesses and artists will be donated to Dawn to Dawn: Action on Homelessness Society (www.dawntodawn.org). This society does important work in the Comox Valley and provides transitional housing for those in need in our community.

We hope to see you there – rain, sunshine or snow. You can read more about this event on our Tin Town Community Facebook page.
