This weekend, set your toes a-tappin’ with local bluegrass and oldtime band Backporch Banjo.

BackPorch Banjo is holding a concert this Saturday at the Plateau Concert House at 4323 Forbidden Plateau Rd. At this lovely rural setting, you are invited to park in the orchard, walk in the garden, and enjoy the concert in the barn.

Bring the family (kids under 12 are free) and enjoy a backcountry evening.

BackPorch Banjo features  fresh, harmony-rich sound featuring Deep Bay fiddler/vocalist Ted Granger and Qualicum’s Linda Thorburn on banjo, as well as locals  Bob Slater on guitar, banjo and vocals, and Kazimea Sokil on mandolin, banjo and vocals. The band’s repertoire ranges from hard-driving bluegrass to foot-stomping oldtime with occasional ballads and original songs in the mix.

This will be the band’s last public concert in the Comox Valley for the summer. Doors open at 7, music 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets at the door. All ages; beverages & snacks available or bring your own.  Look for the band’s page on Facebook.
