TOFC to play for provincial title

Pouring rain and artificial turf created slippery playing conditions in the semi-final of the Provincial Premier Cup

Pouring rain and artificial turf created slippery playing conditions in the semi-final of the Provincial Premier Cup between the U13 TOFC and Mountain United FC Saturday in Burnaby.

TOFC created many early scoring chances, but couldn’t solve the Mountain United goalkeeper.

Just past the quarter mark in the match, Mountain United were awarded a free kick 10 yards past half.

The Mountain United striker drilled the ball from distance and it took an awkward bounce and went over the TOFC keeper’s head and went in.

TOFC started the second half behind by a single goal.

The second goal of the game came from the result of another set piece as TOFC tied the game with a header off of a corner kick. The early, second-half goal gave TOFC a boost of confidence and the goal turned the game on its head.

Halfway through the half, TOFC took the lead thanks to a bullet of a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and went into the net.

The final score was 2-1 for TOFC.

TOFC will now play in the Provincial Premier Cup Final this weekend on Sunday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna. TOFC will face off against the fourth seed, Coastal FC, who upset the number-one seeded Coquitlam.
