East Van trio, Blue Dirt Girl, and Illiteratty will be at Tractorgrease Cafe on March 11.
The two bands share two musicians: Albert Klassen and Simon Kendall.
Kendall has had a great career with Doug and the Slugs and continues that music along with composing and producing music for film, TV and theatre, along with playing with Illiteratty, Blue Dirt Girl and other local musicians.
Klassen will play stand up/electric bass/back up vocals, with Blue Dirt Girl, and play mandolin/back up vocals with Illiteratty. Kendall plays piano/accordian/back up vocals with both bands.
Blue Dirt Girl is sophisticated pop with hints of jazzy swing. The band is a trio of longtime collaborators and accomplished east Vancouver-based musicians: Kathryn Sutherland on lead vocals, electric guitar and acoustic guitar; Klassen on stand up/electric bass and vocals; and Jason Overy on drum kit/percussion and back-up vocals.
Illiteratty is urban folk music with Earle Peach on lead vocals/guitar, Kirsten Daub on violin, Mark Bender on stand up bass, plus Klassen and Kendall.
