You have to expect a bit of a circus, after all.
One character promises to dress up in a circus outfit while he fights a monkey and then gets shot out of a cannon.
And he’s going to do it all drunk, high and unemployed.
“It’s the only way you can fight a monkey,” said Bubbles, arguably the most recognizable character from the hit television show The Trailer Park Boys for his coke-bottle glasses.
The monkey is named Crazy Charlie and Bubbles – played by Mike Smith – describes the animal as having black hair and a brush cut.
“Wow, Bubbles,” said Ricky, played by Robb Wells on the show. “I didn’t know you planned all that.”
The trio of actors often stay in character while conducting interviews and meeting fans, keeping with the reality TV/documentary style that the original show was filmed in.
The Trailer Park Boys was set in fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The series ran for seven seasons and spawned two movies and two cross-Canada tours.
The boys were in Nanaimo two years ago with their show based on a community service theme.
Bubbles said he’s done trying to keep the other two – Ricky, the pot smoker, and Julian, played by Jean Paul Tremblay, permanently attached to a rum and coke – in line.
“I’m done trying to keep the train on the track,” he said.
When they get to the Harbour City, the boys plan to sample the local cuisine, such as the famous Nanaimo bar – traditional or deep fried.
“That sounds amazing,” Bubbles said.
And Ricky plans to sample the local crop as research to support his own farming activities in Atlantic Canada.
The Trailer Park Boys are touring Canada Drunk, High and Unemployed – and they hope the audience is, too.
“I hope they come just as banged up as we are,” Julian said.
