The Vince Mai Quartet is said to be “back-by-intense-popular-demand.”

This weekend’s Music on Sunday act is a Vancouver trumpeter who has shared the stage with a veritable who’s who list of jazz luminaries and appeared on hundreds of recordings for TV, feature films, commercials and albums.

The Vince Mai Quartet is said to be “back-by-intense-popular-demand.” Mai will bring the audience a tasteful afternoon of standards and original tunes.

The Vince Mai Quartet is performing at The Old Schoolhouse Arts Centre (122 W. Fern Rd., Qualicum Beach) on Feb. 5 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Admission is $18.

For more information, visit www.theoldschoolhouse.org or call 250-752-6133.

Mai will be performing alongside Ron Hadley on piano, Rick Kilburn on bass and John Lee on drums.

Mai’s studio work has included TV shows like DaVinci’s Inquest, Chris Isaak Show, Lonesome Dove, McGyver and Ed, Edd, & Eddy.

Also an award-winning composer, Mai has composed music for feature films, documentaries, TV series, video games and commercials for TV, radio and internet. The curriculum is completely designed by Mai for learning how to compose music for film, TV, and video; the course is assignment based and challenges the student to compose in many genres with focus on technical and musical considerations.

As a solo artist, Mai has released five CDs. With the exception of For All We Know, Mai’s other CDs feature mostly original compositions.
