The Potters Place Gallery is pleased to have two featured artists this month; Maggie Shaw and Alan Burgess.
Maggie says, “I like strong, dramatic colours” and it is evident in both her saggar pots and her functional ware. Maggie also has a soft green glaze that she uses over hand-carved pots. This shows off both the glaze and the carving in their best light. Her garden art is funky and reveals her sense of humour and playfulness.
Alan Burgess brought his skills to the Comox Valley from the UK, where he was a production potter. He has taught many of the potters of the Comox Valley at North Island College and he continues to share his knowledge and skill with developing potters through the Comox Valley Potters Club. His exhibit at the Potters Place is a mix of functional work and dramatic, large show pieces. Be sure to stop by and see what is new.
