Comox Valley concert-goers can expect the unexpected with the return of the Vancouver Island Symphony’s popular Summer Pop Up Concert Series featuring three VIS ensembles performing works from all genres of music including classical, jazz, Latin, traditional and Canadiana favourites.
Happening on Sundays at 3 p.m. – July 25, Aug. 8 and Aug. 22.
Show #1 – VIS Back Row Brass Quintet, July 25.
Come celebrate the summer of ’21 with the VIS Back Row Brass performing everything from nostalgic Canadiana, classic Disney, Broadway musicals to the Beatles! A fun show for all ages showing off the versatility of two trumpets, one horn, one trombone and an audience favourite – the tuba!
Show #2 – VIS String Quartet & French horn, Aug. 8
Enjoy an up-close and personal concert with VIS principal horn, Andrew Clark and VIS String Quartet. The music to be performed includes: Handel’s Suite in D (HWV341), Quintet by Hoffmeister, Romance by Michael Haydn, Telemann’s Concerto for Violin and Horn (TWV43:F6) and Mozart’s Quintet (KV407).
Show #3 –The Marco Paolo Trio, Aug. 22
The Marko Paolo Trio is back performing this summer the classic music by Haydn, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms and Ibert. The trio will also perform music inspired by classic French and Italian movies including “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” and “Amelie”, as well as incredible music by Nino Rota from “The Godfather” and “La Vita e Bella.”
