The band is Mud Bay Slim (vocals/harmonica), Murphy Farrell (drums), Mark Branscombe (guitar/vocals), Randall T. Carpenter (steel guitar/mandolin/vocals), and Dennis Ingvaldson (bass).

Mud Bay’s sound is a mash up of Chicago blues, country, Cajun, rock and soul.

“We were originally inspired by the Chicago blues masters: Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, Little Walter and also by the British blues bands of the ‘60s, especially The Yardbirds. Back then, we called our style neo-Yardbirdism and tried to play with the same energy we heard in their records,” said Carpenter.

This electrifying band has been together for 38 years and counting.

Weathering more than a few storms along the way, Mud Bay has been acclaimed bona fide soul survivors and “the band that won’t go away,” much to the delight of music lovers near and far.

When asked how they’ve been creating music for so long together, Slim puts it simply, “the longevity is due to loving what we do.”

This love for sharing their unique high-intensity brand of blues and roots music can be heard on Mud Bay’s fourth album, Colebrook Road, which is garnering airplay in Europe, throughout B.C. and on CBC Radio.
