Vernon Public Art Gallery opens after hours for Art After Dark

Enjoy art, food, drinks, music, hands-on art activities and art exhibitions all in one evening.

Get creative when Art After Dark returns to the Vernon Public Art Gallery Friday, Sept. 18.

The event is designed to cultivate the creative community in Vernon by offering a venue for art, food, drinks, music, hands-on art activities and art exhibitions all in one evening.

“This event sells out, so get your tickets early,”  said VPAG executive director Dauna Kennedy Grant.

“This popular Friday night soirée is the perfect excuse to get together with friends for a cocktail while listening to music and taking in the ambiance the art gallery provides, Event sponsor Woolley & Co. helps enable the VPAG to host this popular event adding to the night life of Vernon three nights per year.”

Guests can mix, mingle and dance to music spun by DJ Chrispin. Gourmet appetizers are included with ticket purchase and a cash bar will include cocktails, beer and wine ($5 each).

Optional art activities include a photo booth with a selection of creative and comical props (prints are available by donation), a group card game called Apples to Apples, and a balloon animal making station.

Ticket holders can also participate in the group drawing game Exquisite Corpse, which is inspired by surrealism and involves a group of people each drawing a portion of the human (or non-human) figure. However, each person does not get to see what the other drew before them. The end results in a very creative and often comical creation.

Art After Dark takes place from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $15 each, available at the Vernon Public Art Gallery, located under the downtown parkade, or online at www.vernonpublicartgallery.com/art-dark/
