Victoria Beer Week brews up more fun for 2nd annual event

The second annual Victoria Beer Week runs from March 7 to March 15.

Beer lovers rejoice as the second annual Victoria Beer Week returns in March.

Beer Week highlights a broad selection of craft breweries and intends to educate the people of Victoria about craft beer.

“Victoria Beer Week is building off of what was a very successful launch last year by bringing back the best and most popular events from year one and adding several unique and exciting events in year two,” said Joe Wiebe, media coordinator for Beer Week.

One new event this year is Thunderdome, which will feature 10 new beers yet-to-be launched by 10 different craft breweries in B.C. The outdoor event takes place under a heated tent dome at Wheelie’s Motorcycle Cafe.

In addition, 18 other events will take place throughout the city from March 7 to March 15.

Beer Week opens with Cask Night at Victoria Public Market at 7 p.m.. There will be food vendors and a selection of cask-conditioned beers from up to 20 Vancouver Island breweries, as well as cider and mead.

Tickets for each event are available online at victoriabeerweek.com or at Garrick’s Head Pub, 1140 Government St.

Prices range from free for the Fantast Beer Label Art Show on March 12 and the Homebrewing workshop at Category 12 Brewing on March 14, to $65 for the Definitive Victoria Brewery Crawl on March 12 and 13 and the Brewmaster’s Brunch at the Atrium on March 15.
