VIDEO: Fort Gallery hosts Port Kells singing harpist

Monthly evenings, blending visual art and music, continue this week in a dedicated village space.

A Port Kells singing harpist, Leanne Page, will trumpet in November at the Fort Gallery Thursday.

Each month, the gallery hosts a variety of visual artists, writers and poets, and musicians from the local community who share their “gifts and creations,” explained manager Margaret Campbell.

This month, that features Page, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2.

She a Celtic harpist and classically trained singer is a diverse and versatile musician who brings a rich musical pallet to every performance, Campbell said.

Page has a “background in a variety of musical genres from opera to Celtic, from sacred to classical, and popular crossover styles, gives her a unique ability to create the ideal music for any occasion, making her a much sought after performer,” she elaborated.

Praised for her melodious playing and clear soprano voice, Page regularly performs throughout the Lower Mainland, playing and singing in many settings from cathedrals to country clubs, to retirement residences to concert halls.

She claims to “feel blessed to create beautiful music for life’s special occasions.”

The First Thursday event will also be the opening reception for the current exhibit, The Enlargement of Small Moments, featuring artists Elizabeth Anderson and Zuzana Vasko, who will talk about their work.

The Fort Gallery is a community-based artist collective. the gallery, itself, is open Wednesdays to Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m.
