Album of the year
Langley’s own country singing star Dallas Smith brought home more bling from this year’s national industry awards ceremony this weekend.
During Sunday night’s Canadian Country Music Awards in Saskatoon, Sask., Smith earned the album of the year award for his latest, Side Effects.
He also scored single of the year for his song Autograph.
It didn’t end there. He was also recognized for having the top selling Canadian album of the year – again for Side Effects.
But that wasn’t all he walked away with from the awards night. He was “propositioned” by Canadian music legend Terri Clark.
“Congratulations to all the CCMA official winners,” Clark tweeted last night. “Especially my buddies @dallassmith for album/single…”
While she was not in attendance, Smith sent a shout out to his friend.
“Love ya @TerriClarkMusic!!! We missed you tonight.” Smith said.
It was the followup comment today from Clark that has the Langley boy winking.
“Hey, maybe we can sing one together next year?” Clark queried. “Ya never know, eh.”
Smith replied: “Ohhhhhh I think we should!”

Smith is launching his 28-stop Side Effects tour in Halifax on Oct. 12, and will end it with a performance close to home, at the Abbotsford Entertainment Centre, on Nov. 18.
In the meantime, Smith wasn’t the only Langleyite who walked away with an award at the CCMAs.
Stephano Barberis was crowned video director of the year, specil accolades given for his work with artist Chad Brownlee (formerly of Langley) on his videos for I Hate You For It and Somethin’ We Shouldn’t Do, Smith’s video for One Little Kiss, as well as JoJo Mason’s Red Dress, Bucko & Toad’s Summer Girl, and Dean Brody’s Time.
