Valdy brings a vast experience to the Upstairs Lounge at Oak Bay Recreation Centre Friday night.
Play Me a Rock and Roll Song launched Valdy’s recording career of 18 albums, 24 singles, four gold albums and more than half a million copies sold worldwide.
Born Paul-Valdemar Horsdal in Ottawa, Ont., the prolific songwriter, singer, musician and performer is a two-time Juno Award-winner who continues to perform up to 200 gigs a year.
He performs this week with local composer, arranger, producer and musician Karel Roessingh. Roessingh has written and co-written scores to more than 500 television episodes and award-winning films, documentaries and promotional videos. As well as performing on countless recordings for other artists, he has produced more than 15 of his own recordings, including two jazz trio CDs and many solo piano CDs. In 2011, he produced and played on Valdy’s latest CD.
