SURREY — More than 50 works in a variety of media are featured during “Arts 2016,” the annual juried exhibit at Surrey Art Gallery.

The showcase always features a broad range of styles and themes, making it a popular attraction at the Bear Creek Park facility during the summer months.

A jury is tasked with nominating artworks to receive first, second, third and honourable-mention awards in several categories.

Examples of canvas paintings, drawings, mixed media, fibre arts, and photography are all on view until Aug. 27.

Visitors to the gallery are encouraged to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

“Arts 2016” is organized by the Arts Council of Surrey and presented with the assistance of Surrey Art Gallery, located at 13750 88th Ave. Call 604-501-5566 for details, or visit Surrey.ca/artgallery.

Also showcased at the gallery this summer are “Away: The Artist as Traveller,” drawn from the gallery’s permanent collection, and Jay Bundy Johnson’s “Being still (life) shows us who we are,” a deconstruction of electronic objects and mechanical devices.
