A convenient listing of upcoming arts, entertainment and cultural events happening around the South Cariboo

• Jan. 18-Feb. 13 – Parkside Art Gallery opens its new show, Into the Limelight 2012, featuring local artists Lianne Heales and Gina Myhill-Jones. Parkside hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, noon-4 p.m.

• Jan. 20 – The Solid Rock Cafe’ at The Rock Youth Centre on the Cariboo Christian Life Fellowship Church grounds at 108 Mile features a great atmosphere and live country, bluegrass and gospel music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and music starts at 7. There is no cover charge. For information, call Pat at 250-395-3846.

• Feb. 4 – Mt. Timothy Ski Society holds its annual dinner/auction at the Valley Room with doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets $30 at 100 Miler Gear Garage, Didi’s and Mt. Timothy Guest Services on the mountain.

• Feb. 11 – The 12th Annual 100 Mile House Cowboy Concert at Martin Exeter Hall, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets $15 at Work n Play, 100 Mile Feed and South Cariboo Visitor Centre.

• Feb. 12 – 100 Mile Snowmobile Club hosts Winterfest 40-kilometre poker ride fundraiser for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. Registration 8 a.m. and ride at 10 at the clubhouse on Ainsworth Road near the 99 Mile Ski Trails. Participants must collect a minimum $25 in pledges and pledge sheets can be picked up at all local snowmobile dealers. Free lunch included.

• Feb. 23-25 and March 1-3 – A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, presented by the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society at Martin Exeter Hall. Evening performances at 7 p.m. and Saturday matinees at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 at Didi’s, Donex and Curves.
