Happy First Birthday Pet Value

Pet Value is hosting a fundraising event in celebration of its first Birthday. The event kicks off Friday evening at 6 p.m. There will be games, hot dogs, cake cutting for a minimum donation of $1. All proceeds go to the Prince Rupert Wildlife Rehab Shelter.

The Little Lighthouse Photo Booth is also doing Christmas pet photos. $20 for pictures and 50 per cent of the proceeds go to the wildlife shelter.

Last Minute Market Christmas shopping

Vendors will present their wares on Saturday at the Moose Hall from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for last minute stocking stuffers and presents.

7th Annual Jingle Bell Rock

Sixty music students from the Ring System Music Studio will take the Lester Centre stage by storm on Saturday night for the 7th annual Jingle Bell Rock performance.

The show is on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation and all proceeds go to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

Rainmakers Alumni Tournament

It’s the annual Rainmakers Alumni Tournament this weekend at Charles Hays Secondary School, celebrating 71 years of Rainmakers basketball in Prince Rupert.

The teams from past and present will compete in nine games over Friday and Saturday. On Friday, there will be games starting at 2:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, pool play continues with games at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The final three games will determine the final tournament rankings.

The 3rd place teams in division A and B will play at 4:00 p.m.,  then the 2nd place times at 5:30 p.m. and finally, the top teams from each division will battle for top spot at 7:00 p.m.

Teams included are: current senior boys and junior boys, 2014-2016 Rainmakers, 1946-2002 Rainmakers, 2003-2009 Rainmakers and 2010-2013 Rainmakers.

Bantam Rep Tournament

The Bantam Rep Seawolves will battle for dominance in its pre-Christmas tournament.

There will be four teams involved, including Houston, Kitimat, Terrace and Rupert. Each team will play three games in the pool play, over Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Seawolves play Terrace at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, it hosts Kitimat at 11:00 a.m. and Houston at 7:15 p.m.

On Sunday, the bronze medal match takes place at 9:00 a.m. and the gold medal match at 11:15 a.m.

Free Skate and Swim

There will be a free swim on Sunday at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre, from 2-4 p.m.

As well, Ridley Terminals Inc. is sponsoring a free public skate at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on Sunday from 4:00-5:15 p.m.
